Are You Pregnant?

While some women “just know” in an intuitive way, most of us rely on other forms of verification.

5 Ways to Confirm You are Pregnant

1. Physical Changes in Your Body

Around three weeks into your pregnancy, you might notice some changes in your body, such as:
Remember that other factors can also cause these symptoms, so while they could indicate pregnancy, it’s a good idea to confirm with another method.

2. Urine Pregnancy Test at home (UPT)

This popular method checks urine for a hormone that appears after implantation. Different tests have different sensitivity levels, and since the hormone increases over time, testing too early might give inaccurate results. It’s generally advised to test around 3 weeks after implantation and then repeat the test a couple of weeks later to confirm.

3. Blood Test

Blood tests detect the pregnancy hormone with higher sensitivity and are typically accurate by the third week.

4. Ultrasound

Ultrasound technology can detect the gestational sac as early as 3-4 weeks into pregnancy. However, most doctors prefer to wait until 4-6 weeks for the first ultrasound unless there’s a specific medical reason to do it sooner. Ultrasounds are usually done at various points throughout the pregnancy and provide a great way to track your baby’s development.

5. Doppler Heartbeat Detection

Experience the happiness of hearing your baby’s heartbeat!
Listening to your baby’s heartbeat with a Doppler machine can be a thrilling part of pregnancy, especially if conception takes a lot of effort. This method is typically reliable after 8 to 12 weeks.
If you suspect you might be pregnant, we recommend reaching out to your doctor. They can confirm your pregnancy accurately and provide the support and information you need for a healthy pregnancy and a positive outcome.
